After years of sabbatical leave here is what brought about the two albums from Le Grand Popo Football Club.
Years of fallows during which Nicolas Errera et Ariel Wizman were very busy : reading, bowling, naval battles, bollywood weddings, philosophical debates with hairdressers, long telephone conversations on various subjects kept their friendship alive.
The path to the studio was cleared and the pleasure of making melodies together resurfaced intact. Ariel Wizman having raised his esteem and improved his hypnosis of the dance floor, Nicolas Errera having specified his taste in precise composition & inherited from the God’s classical and film music, their reunion highlights a fact: these two there had never really left each other
Then Tania Bruna-Rosso came along, with her never bitchy fringe and the divine surprise of a voice. All this gave way to an album which like all good music is difficult to qualify. It’s enough to know that they didn’t forbid themselves anything and just like in the first opus, the montony which comes so easily from electronic music software is avoided.
The album “My Territory “ speaks of a love coming from within which prevents many from having real pleasure (“We had Style”) from that beautiful fragility post-adolescence which is very difficult to leave, from (“Shadow stabbing a Shadow”) the shadows that stab at each other at the depths of our psyche, from (“Les Filles “)girls , from (“Fake to Fake Party”) people who have fun doing nothing and end up being really bored.
Words were needed, lightness was needed, a need to drive the anguish away, the voice of Tania which brings happiness was needed, rythm which gives intelligence a chance on the dancefloor again was needed, and from all this came the 2nd album of Grand Popo Football Club.
“Les Filles”, their second single, is an ode to all the girls they knew. To those they loved, those they kissed, those they left and those who left them. The names evokes in each one a situation, an adventure, an ex and each one finds itself in this random succession of memories. With this song written and produced by Nicolas Errera and Ariel Wizman, Le Grand Popo Football Club proves its originality in the most simple way
Far from the provocative fireworks of an Electro-Pop teaser, le group prove their creativity and transform a banal statement of names into a dancing and electrifying tune.
More than just a song it is yet again a concept proposed by Grand Popo Football Club.
