MASOMENOS BIO
The so funky duo Masomenos is a productiv partnership between Joan Costes, graphic desiner and DJ, and Adrien de Maublanc, music producer and AD.
When they met in 2006, they almost immediately started working together, expressing themselves throughout different medias such as image, videos, and sound, finding in Masomenos a great playground for their creativity.But it's definitely the music who got the whole story starting.
Bon Voyage was the perfect first project as it was a combination of both their specialty (half selection/half production).
It ended up being a one hour bootlegged musical journey that brought them enough positiv feedbacks to keep on this path.
Though, they both kept on doing what they were doing before they met: As Joan was digging records and spending time behind the decks, Adrien was builting up his studio, and defining his production style.
The next step was to create their own label, as they understood it would be the best way to express fully their universe musically, but also visually, as this was also important part of their work, that they would keep on developing on the side of their musical activities.
Since then, Masomenos started to be requested for gigs, and naturally they proposed 2 acts under the same name, Joan doing a dj set, and Adrien a live act.
Though it was complicated to stand with this idea, as they were new in the scene, the kept on insisting, as it was for them the only way to present what IS Masomenos: 2 individual personality, inspiring each other with their work, and looking in the same direction.
Working like this they've released 4 albums, and over 30 eps, but also opened a shop, and made lots of design collaboration, but that's another part of the story…

RELEASES ON WTM
2007
masomenos started their label WTM (welcome to masomenos) with a bootleg compilation called "costes presente BON VOYAGE" .
Opening a new direction with "costes" (usually known for it's "hotel costes" lounge compilations).
The "costes present" line" allowed them to introduce minimal to a wide audience usually listening to lounge music.
2008
masomenos released a serie of 8 vinyls and a CD Album "MASOMENOS LIVEMIX"

For the CD masomenos decided to released it on WTM without the "costes present line " to build up the label independently from costes.
It was big surprise, as their music was pretty "after-hours like", that the EP's and CD got very good feedback (Ricardo, Luciano, Dice, Laurent Garnier, Danny tenaglia…)
2009
masomenos released a new project, The Third Eye, a serie of 4 vinyls and a CD Album "costes present THE THIRD EYE"

For the CD this time masomenos decided to released it on the "costes presente" line, in order to carry on the minimal introducing with the "costes" public but this time with a full artist album.
As they didn't do any promotion, feedbacks came very slowly. but 6 month after, a numerous number of artists got back with really nice word on the album... Jeff Mills, Zip, Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Luciano, Miss Kittin, Seth Troxler, Raresh, Guy Gerbert, Damian Lazarus... even Dave Stewart.
Masomenos also started a vinyl only collaboration records serie : "MASOMENOS & FRIENDS" .
The idea of the collaboration is very simple, When a friend producer is in Paris, they get in the studio and see what happen…

For the CD "MASOMENOS BALLOONS" they decided to released it again without the "costes present" to continue to build up the label credibility, and open "costes present line" to other artist. (the 3rd "costes present LP " is with french producer Seuil number 4 will be with the Greek LEMOS )
2011
2011 is the year of TECHNOCOLOR project, a new series of EP and a new mixed album. In this last project like always the inspiration comes from the various trip, and the people (friends) they met like Valentino Kanziany, Jay haze, Damien Vandesande...
